5:00 p.m. Preview of exhibit for VIPs, media
6:00 p.m. Public Lecture, Wayne Moore TSLA – Topic: TVA’s land acquisition policy and population removal
Volunteers help set up (all day)
Saturday, September 13
10:00 a.m.- 5:30 p.m. Scanning, story booth, video taping, exhibit openFormer residents encouraged to bring photographs and documents to be scanned, and stories to be video taped- Aubrey Watson and Jody Bailey from the State Parks
11:00 a.m.- Welcome remarks, Mike talks about the project
12:00 p.m.- Lunch – Interviewees Picnic, Interviewees recognized
1:00 p.m.- Indent – an- artifact: Public invited to bring unidentified objects to the state park’s archeological expert for identification
1:30 p.m.- Project Directors Dollie Boyd and Albert Whittenberg speak about the project, answer questions about the exhibit
2:00 p.m.- Program for children: Make a block for the community quilt
3:00 p.m.- Ranger Program: Hike on Spann House trail, led by Mike Robertson, park manager
4:00p.m.- Program: Verna Mae Weaver Ernst talks about the history of Marble Plains Baptist Church followed by hike to Marble Plains Church
5:30p.m-10:00p.m.- Tims Ford Pickers Perform traditional “roots” music- Lunch – Interviewees Picnic, Interviewees recognized
