The nature Center will be open, however there will be no programs scheduled for Sunday or Monday

Tuesday, August 5th

10:00am Box Turtles: Meet Dava at the Nature Center to hear a Cherokee legend about turtles followed by a short discussion about box turtles (All ages)

5:00pm Cedar Forest Trail Hike: Enjoy a 2 miles hike through the Cedar forest. Bug spray, sturdy shoes and long pants recommended. Meet Marta at the trail-head at parking lot by shelter #1 (All ages)

Wednesday, August 6th

2:00pm Tie Die: Bring a prewashed white cotton t-shirt to the camp store to make some colorful and fun patterns you can wear!

5:00pm Scavenger Hunt Hike: Meet Marta at the Limestone Sinks Trailhead to go searching for some of the amazing plants, critters and geological features of the park! (All ages)

Thursday, August 7th

10:00am Shucks the Corn-Snake! Want to know all about the snakes of TN and the park? Come to the Nature Center for some useful information and a chance to see and touch Shucks. (All ages)

5:30pm Afternoon Hike: Meet Marta at the Dixon Merrit trailhead for a 0.5 mile hike through the Cedar Glades and forests of the park. Maybe see some critters! (All ages)

Friday, August 8th

10:00am Cedar Forest Hike: Let’s take a nice 2 mile hike into the woods! Meet Dava at the Cedar Forest trailhead by picnic shelter #1

1:00pm Cricket Cave: Explore a kid friendly natural cave! Meet Dava at the Main Office to caravan to site in the forest. Please bring flashlights. (All ages)

2:00-4:00pm Magic Sun Catchers: Join Marta at the camp store for an afternoon craft sure to delight everyone (6 & up)

8:30pm Campfire/ Marshmallow roast: Join Marta at  the campfire ring to roast marshmallows. Campfire ring is located in field behind nature center. Cross the bridge over the creek bed and make a left, follow trail to open field.

Saturday, August 9th

10:00am Nature Trek: Meet Dava at the Hidden Springs Trailhead for a guided 5 mile hike through all three ecosystems of the park: Cedar Glade, Cedar Forest, Oak Hickory Forest. We will be stopping 1/2 way to have lunch by the Hidden Springs Cave. Please bring your own sac lunch and come prepared. (All ages)

1:00-3:00pm Scrapbooking: Join Marta & Amanda at the Camp Store between 1 and 3 to make your own summer keepsake. (younger than 5 yrs needs supervision)

5:00pm Cave Expedition: Join Marta at the Nature Center for a brief introduction to caving prior to heading into Jackson Cave. Please be prepared to get muddy and bring a flashlight.

We had so much fun making ice cream that a lot of people asked for the reciept.

In a sandwich size ziploc baggie combine:

 1tbs sugar

1/2 cup milk or 1/2 & 1/2

1/4 tsp. vanilla or 2 spquirts chocolate sauce

*stir to mix well and seal tight

In a Gallon ziploc bag fill:

1/2 full of ice

6 tbs Rock Salt

*put the small bag into the big bag, seal, and swish side to side for around 10min

*ENJOY!
