Help us Celebrate “National

Trails Day”

Friday June 5th: 

“Leave No Trace” Park Clean Up Day

Let’s clean and tidy up so everyone can enjoy our natural environment!

10:00 am Park/Trail Trash and Litter Pick Up.  Meet at the Park Office.

4:00 pm Frisbee Golf Course Clean Up.

Meet at the parking lot of the course (next to swimming pool).

*Please bring work gloves.  Trash bags will be provided.*

Saturday June 6th:

9:00 am Hidden Springs Trail Hike

Enjoy a 5-mile guided hike through all three of the park’s ecosystems:  Cedar glades, cedar forest, and oak hickory forest.  We’ll walk by sinkholes and maybe catch a glimpse of the hidden springs. . . Bring a snack and water.  Hike will take approx. 4 hours so come prepared with sturdy shoes (no flip flops), bug spray, long pants (recommended), water, snacks, and camera.  Meet guide at trailhead.

2:00 pm Cedar Forest Trail Hike

This 2-mile trail offers a more rocky path into the weeds–a favorite place for deer and turkey.  Meet your guide at the parking lot for Picnic Shelter #1.

May 29-31, 2009 Weekend Events

11:00 a.m. Friday May 29th: “Scavenger Hunt Hike.”

Meet at the Nature Center for a short hike on the

Dixon Merritt Trail to explore the park with all our

senses. (All ages)

2:00 p.m. Saturday May 30th: “Cedar Glade Trail Hike.”

Enjoy a nice guided half mile walk into one of the most unique

ecosystems of the park.  Meet at Park Office. (All ages)

**Please come ready to hike, bring sturdy shoes (no flip flops), water, 

long pants, and bug spray.  Call 615-443-2769 for more information on these

Halloween At Harrison Bay Oct. 31, 2008

6:00 PM-9:00 PM

Harrison Bay Park Rangers, along with Friends of Harrison Bay State Park, bring you FRIGHT FRIDAY!  This will be an evening of games, face painting, trick or treating in the campground, programming and much more.  Join us at the park for a Halloween to remember.  The evening activities will start around 6:00 PM and will include hayrides through the campground, live snake shows, various games with prizes, and all of your favorite park rangers. 

Bring the family, bring a friend, but most importantly bring some candy for all the ghouls and goblins that will be coming around.

Parking will be available at the Swimming pool/ Rec. Hall parking lot.  Activities will be held at and around the concession stand.

You don’t want to miss the Annual Events put on through out the year at many of our state parks. Events such as: Rock Climbing, Civil War Reinactments, Wild Foods Day, and many more!

There are also events and activities held in TN State Parks for select holidays through out the year, like Christmas On The Mountain (Fall Creek Falls).
